HANNAH EPPERSON - weaving uncanny artistry with violin, loop pedal, voice and innovative rhythmic improvisations.

‘THE ONE(S) WHO NEVER LIVED’ – a physically powerful and emotionally layered duet byMontreal based choreographer/dancer Jason Martin performed by Martin and Rebecca Margolick.

Hannah Epperson - With violin, loop pedal, voice and innovative rhythmic improvisations with proximate objects, Hannah Epperson weaves uncanny connection with her audiences, taking listeners on exhilarating journeys. As a companion in musical experience, she is powerful yet playful and gentle, often exploring the essential cultural and political matters of our age without ever leaving the miracle of the commonplace or us behind.

Hannah Epperson has been called aneo-classical composer and musician, indie folk/rocker and avant-garde popartist. She's performed at jazz and electronica, folk, art, new music and rockfestivals.

With early ties to the American Southwestand Canada's Pacific coast, Hannah’s music draws from a life of listening and play inspired by musicians and artists across a wide range of genres: from generous childhood mentorships with cowgirl Meghan Merker, a clutch of old timedance musicians, and Peter Shumman's Bread and Puppet Theater; to practicing arpeggios and discovering the eclectic discographies of European artists like Bjork, the Cranberries, Arvo Part and many others who captured the imagination of a young North American. Hannah discovered her joy in collaborating with others early, including working in dialogue with the intense physicality of contemporary dancers in Brooklyn, New York and Banff, Alberta. She has worked in studio and on stage with artists such as Fleet Foxes, Ry X and JuliannaBarwick and Canadian spoken word artist Shane Koyczan.

‘ ...defies the expectations of popmusic… The end product is unique, haunting, addictive’ - Ted Gioia

‘As a rising millennial artist, herchilling and evocative voice is nothing short of extraordinary.’ - La Blogothèque

‘Employing dream-folk variations andvisceral soundscapes’ - The Line Of Best Fit

‘ ...layered, intricate, crystal clearpop variations’ – Earmilk

‘The One(S) Who Never Lived’ - In this moving and pyhsically powerful dance performance, choreographed by Montreal based Jason Martin, two individuals seek to balance desires for order and production within chaos.Their movements exhibit a synchronized precision, reminiscent of the monotony often linked to modern industrial processes and assembly line work. They function as conduits, symbolizing the delicate inter play between attraction and repulsion. A contrast arises, involving emotional apathy and a need to connect, to feel alive. A dialogue between the natural and the industrial, the human and the mechanized, highlights how these opposing elements coincide resulting in a physically powerful and emotionally layered dance performed by two of Canada’s most exciting dance artists - Martin and Rebecca Margolick.

‘...An organic, breathy performance where the tempo, movements, aesthetic choices and dramaturgy came together fully.’ Veronica Posth, Seing Dance

‘ ...The collective tableaux are remarkable as the creator has a precise idea of the place each person should occupy, at what height, and according to which movement logic.’ Marion Gerbier, DfDanse Credits
