The Dancers of Damelahamid’s  Spirit and Tradition conveys important cultural teachings on balance, interconnectedness, and community through dramatic dance and intricate masks and regalia. The work’s key themes are reciprocity and ecological sustainability, conveying important cultural teachings on balance, interconnectedness, and community. Through the sharing of Indigenous knowledge and artistic practices of the Northwest Coast, Spirit and Tradition layers Coastal masked dances, projected imagery, soundscape, and puppetry. The audience is immersed into the rich and diverse ecosystem of the coastal mountains and oceans.

The Dancers of Damelahamid is an intergenerational Indigenous dance company, with dancers of all ages, from infants to elders. Led by dancer/choreographer Executive & ArtisticDirector Margaret Grenier, the company was founded upon over five decades of extensive work of song and dance and revitalization.  Their performances, in abundance, shares stories, songs, and dances celebrating the richness of Gitxsan and Cree culture. Gitxsan means ‘people of the river of mist’. The dance company is named after a city called Damelahamid, where the Gitxsan nation originates from.

Advancing the appreciation of the art, history, language, and traditions of Indigenous culture through story, dance and song, Dancers of Damelahamid has performed for audiences across Canada, and internationally in New Zealand, Australia, Cook Islands,China, Scotland, Germany, Ecuador, Peru, United Arab Emerites,  and the USA.

T’SASALACULTURAL GROUP - T'sasała means "to be determined." This impactful cultural performance group, co-founded by sisters Andrea Cranmer and Donna Cranmer, is determined to follow in the footsteps of its ancestors.

You will see the next generation of Kwakwa̱k̕a̱'wakw sharing their culture to educate the world about Kwakwaka’wakw ancient songs, dances, teachings and values. These teachings are still being passed on today to the children of T'sasała through traditional dances that connect to the land, sky, and sea. The company has performed throughout the province and internationally.

For the 2025/2026 season we are continuing to expand our annual series by featuring diverse and acclaimed dance artists and multi-week dance creation residencies.
